Cebu Governor Pamela Baricuatro highlighted the critical role of parents and community collaboration in shaping learners’ futures as she delivered the keynote address at the Division Federated PTA Convergence 2026 on May 2 at Waterworld Hotel in Mandaue City.

Organized by Department of Education – Central Visayas, Division of Cebu Province, the event gathered PTA leaders, educators and stakeholders under the theme “Empowering PTA Leaders for a Collaborative and Transparent Governance.”

Schools Division Superintendent Senen Priscilo Paulin said the governor readily accepted the invitation to speak, noting that the convergence marked the first-ever Division Federated PTA gathering in Cebu Province.

In her speech, Governor Baricuatro said that her role as a mother remains central to her leadership perspective. She shared personal experiences balancing work and parenting, stressing that active parental involvement and consistent communication with teachers are essential to a child’s academic success.

“Raising a child is never done alone. Kita tanan—ginikanan, magtutudlo, ug komunidad—magtinabangay gyud para sa kaugmaon sa atong mga kabataan,” she said.

The governor highlighted that strong partnerships between families and schools foster a more supportive learning environment, with PTA leaders serving as a vital link between communities and educational institutions.

She also pointed out the importance of transparency and collaboration in governance, saying trust is built through genuine service, active listening and inclusive decision-making. The governor said she is thankful to teachers and school leaders for their continued dedication despite challenges.

The convergence aims to strengthen cooperation among education stakeholders and align efforts to improve learning quality and support the holistic development of Cebuano students.

Governor Baricuatro concluded by calling for unity among parents, educators and communities.

“What we are building is not just better schools—we are building a better future,” she said. /𝑪𝑨𝑷𝑰𝑻𝑶𝑳 𝑷𝑰𝑶, 𝑷𝒉𝒐𝒕𝒐𝒔 𝒃𝒚 𝑭𝑬
