One of Cebu’s most treasured religious and cultural landmarks, the historic Archdiocesan Shrine of Patrocinio de Maria Santisima in the southern town of Boljoon, has gained national spotlight after being featured in the Philippine romantic thriller television series A Secret in Prague starring Andrea Brillantes and Enrique Gil.

The series showcased the centuries-old church, known for its stunning architecture and rich historical significance as one of the oldest Augustinian churches in Cebu.
The production also highlighted Boljoon’s breathtaking natural scenery – from its scenic coastline to its lush mountains and greenery, offering viewers a glimpse of the town’s timeless charm and heritage.
Adding a local touch to the show, Boljoon Mayor Jojie Derama also made a cameo appearance in the series as a motorcycle rental operator.

In a Facebook post, Mayor Derama shared his vision of promoting the Boljoon church as a premier wedding destination in Cebu, noting that the church is believed to have one of the longest aisles among churches in the country.
The feature is expected to further boost tourism interest in Boljoon and strengthen appreciation for Cebu’s rich cultural and religious heritage.
“A Secret in Prague” airs on TV5 and is also available for streaming on Netflix. / 𝑪𝑨𝑷𝑰𝑻𝑶𝑳 𝑷𝑰𝑶, 𝑷𝒉𝒐𝒕𝒐𝒔 𝒈𝒓𝒂𝒃𝒃𝒆𝒅 𝒇𝒓𝒐𝒎 𝑴𝒂𝒚𝒐𝒓 𝑱𝒐𝒋𝒊𝒆 𝑫𝒆𝒓𝒂𝒎𝒂’𝒔 𝑭𝑩 𝒂𝒄𝒄𝒐𝒖𝒏𝒕
