Gov. Pamela Baricuatro assured transport workers and other affected sectors that the Cebu Provincial Government will continue providing assistance to help cushion the impact of rising fuel prices.
Initial payouts under the fuel subsidy program show that P5.97 million has been released to 1,933 habal-habal drivers in the towns of Cordova, Oslob, Boljoon, Alcoy, Dalaguete, Ronda, Ginatilan, Tuburan, and Balamban.
As of press time Wednesday, distribution continued in the four towns of Camotes Island and in Catmon, while the extension of assistance to Bantayan, Santa Fe, and Madridejos took place a day earlier.
In total, about P11.85 million in fuel assistance has been disbursed to 3,950 habal-habal drivers across several municipalities.
Gov. Baricuatro said distribution will continue in other municipalities in the coming weeks. Aside from fuel assistance, the Capitol has also distributed rice aid to various transport sectors as part of its ongoing relief efforts.
The governor added that farmers and fisherfolk will also receive assistance under the province’s upcoming sectoral distribution program.
