Key players in the energy sector convened on Friday, April 24, for PowerForward Visayas 2026, a forum aimed at aligning policymakers, operators, producers and consumers to address the region’s evolving power needs.
Organized by The Freeman and Banat News, in partnership with Aboitiz Power, the forum aims to push for a system-wide approach linking supply, infrastructure and demand. Held at Seda Central Bloc, it carried the theme “One Energy System. One Integrated Dialogue. One Shared Future.”
In her keynote speech, Gov. Pamela Baricuatro said Cebu’s proactive push for energy security, highlighting plans to craft a Provincial Energy Master Plan.
“Under my administration, we are not waiting—we are acting,” the governor said. “The Province of Cebu will develop a Provincial Energy Master Plan that integrates national direction, local priorities and private sector initiatives.”
Gov. Baricuatro said the goal is to make Cebu “energy-secure, climate-resilient and future-ready.”
“This is our moment to act with clarity, urgency and purpose, because the choices we make today will determine the Cebu of tomorrow,” she added.
