Personnel from the Office of the Governor and of the Provincial Planning and Development Office (PPDO) visited Camotes Island this week to orient barangay officials on a checklist of financial assistance that they could avail of for their constituents.

As a proactive endeavor of Governor Pamela S. Baricuatro’s administration, at least 26 of Cebu’s 51 local government units (LGUs) have already been visited and briefed on how the assistance to the barangays could be gained, with the team meeting the barangay captains in each engagement.
“This initiative is a coordinated effort by the Provincial Government, under the leadership of Governor Pam, to ensure that all 51 LGUs within the province are properly guided in identifying, planning, and implementing priority development projects,” said Franz Harold Abangan of the PPDO Special Projects Division.

“The main goal is to standardize how projects are selected and funded, so resources are used efficiently and equitably across all barangays,” he added.
Last Tuesday, April 21, 2026, the team met with the 13 members of the Association of Barangay Councils (ABC) of Pilar, after a courtesy call with town officials led by Mayor Manuel “Winkey” P. Santiago and Vice Mayor Chiziline “Ching” S. Maratas.

Yesterday, April 22, the team met with the 11 ABC members of Tudela and 17 ABC members from Poro, each after courtesy calls with Tudela Mayor Greman “Jojo” B. Solante and Vice Mayor Lymarne O. Yu and Poro Mayor Edgar G. Rama and Vice Mayor Dina Z. Rama.
Today, April 23, the team wrapped up the island visit with an orientation given to 15 barangay captains of San Francisco town, who were accompanied by their respective barangay secretary and barangay treasurer.
The objective of the visits is for all barangay captains of Cebu to get a similar briefing on the “Guidelines in the Disbursement and Utilization of Financial Assistance to Barangays”.
As stipulated in the said guidelines, Cebu barangays could avail of funding for their infrastructure projects, particularly road concreting with drainage; industrial fan; solar lighting; and constructions of a multipurpose building/gyms, a multipurpose building/People’s Hall; a day care center; a GAD/SK/Senior citizen building; People’s Stage and other improvements; a People’s Health Station; a foot bridge; and the People’s Agri market with storage facility.
Aside from these, barangays could also request for funding of socio-cultural events and related items, particularly fiestas or festival activities; procurement of multi-purpose tents, monobloc tables and chairs; and procurement of sports gears and equipment.
They could also request the Office of the Governor, through a barangay resolution, a barangay water system requiring a budget of up to P200,000.
The role of the PPDO team is crucial for the barangay captains to fully understand how they could avail of the assistance, as each have their corresponding requirements.
The visits are part of the governor’s promise to the Cebuano people that no one would be left behind, by having the Provincial Government really visit and engage with the barangays. /𝑪𝑨𝑷𝑰𝑻𝑶𝑳 𝑷𝑰𝑶, 𝑷𝑷𝑫𝑶
