With less than a month before the ASEAN Leaders’ Summit this May, preparations across Cebu are intensifying as heads of state and delegates from the 11 member-states are expected to arrive in the province.
At the Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA), officials earlier today showcased key readiness measures, including the newly improved General Aviation (Gen-Av) area, which recently underwent a long-awaited facelift. The facility will play a crucial role in accommodating arriving dignitaries, alongside terminal 2 of the airport.
ASEAN preparations are a collaborative effort between national and local agencies, including the tri-cities of Cebu, Lapu-Lapu, and Mandaue, together with the Provincial Government of Cebu led by Governor Pamela Baricuatro, chair of the Cebu Organizing Committee.
Last April 16, the ASEAN National Organizing Committee–Cebu Organizing Committee (NOC-COC), led by Governor Baricuatro, convened a coordination meeting to assess and align preparations across sectors.
