The Cebu Provincial Government, in collaboration with the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), successfully conducted a massive job fair at the Capitol Social Hall over the weekend, with 73 job seekers hired on the spot (HOTS) from a pool of 10,000 local and overseas vacancies.

Governor Pamela Baricuatro led the event alongside Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Leo J. Cacdac, DMW Undersecretary Bernard P. Olalia, and Assistant Secretary Francis Ron C. De Guzman, signaling high-level support for the province’s labor force.

To facilitate immediate hiring, a comprehensive one-stop shop was established featuring over 30 partner agencies, including the DMW, DOLE, OWWA, DTI, TESDA, and SSS, while the fair also integrated the Buy Lokal, By OFWs (BLBO) Trade Fair and free wellness services to support the holistic well-being of all applicants.

The event’s emotional highlight was the Bagong Bayani Ng Mundo Kumustahan, a psychosocial processing session for 26 OFWs recently repatriated from the Middle East. Facilitated by the DMW and the Department of Health (DOH), the session addressed the mental and emotional transitions of the returnees, with two of these repatriated workers securing immediate employment as part of the day’s hired-on-the-spot total.

In a message of solidarity, Governor Baricuatro reaffirmed the province’s commitment to their reintegration, acknowledging that while the circumstances of their homecoming were difficult, Cebu remains a steadfast home for them.

“Welcome home, and always know that you’ll always have a home here in Cebu and we are all here for you.” Governor Baricuatro said.

This integrated approach underscored the Capitol’s dedication to social welfare and economic stability, ensuring that every Cebuano has access to the resources necessary for a successful transition back into the local workforce. /𝑪𝑨𝑷𝑰𝑻𝑶𝑳 𝑷𝑰𝑶, 𝑷𝒉𝒐𝒕𝒐𝒔 𝒃𝒚 𝑨𝑹𝑱
