The Cebu Provincial Sports Commission (CPSC) is back after six years of inactivity, with newly appointed officers taking their oath on Thursday, April 16.

Gov. Pamela Baricuatro administered the oath-taking ceremony at the Capitol, which was immediately followed by the commission’s first meeting since the term of former governor Hilario Davide III ended in 2019.

The reactivation of CPSC is expected to strengthen grassroots sports development and institutionalize programs that nurture local athletes, aligning provincial efforts with long-term sports planning and youth engagement.

Chaired by Dr. Rhoel James Timothy Dejano and vice chaired by Board Member Loren Singco, the commission is mandated to serve as the primary office responsible for the development and implementation of sports programs and related activities for the province.

The commission was created under Cebu Provincial Ordinance No. 2014-01, enacted during the administration of Davide in March 2014. It had remained inactive for the past six years until Gov. Baricuatro reconvened the CPSC and appointed its officers.

Other members of the CPSC include private sector representatives Paul Jake Castillo, Mark Anthony Ynoc, Francis Chad Salimbangon, Blake Nelson Go, and Mark Leo Chang.

Capitol officials who also sit on the commission are Board Members Raymond Joseph Calderon, Celestino Martinez III, and Dason Larenz Lagon.

Completing the officers are Dr. Senen Priscillo Paulin, superintendent of the Department of Education (DepEd) Division of Cebu Province, and Engr. Rodrigo Tanza. I CAPITOL PIO
