Gov. Pamela Baricuatro reaffirmed her continued support for the ongoing and upcoming development initiatives of the Municipality of Cordova following the presentation of the town’s accomplishments by Mayor Cesar “Didoy” Suan.

The presentation was delivered during the Provincial Government’s “Serbisyo Caravan” for the 6th District held on Wednesday, April 15, at the Cordova Sports Complex, where Mayor Suan reported key achievements and programs of the local government.

The governor commended the transparency of the report, emphasizing the importance of accountability and shared governance between the provincial government and local government units (LGUs).

“I found it very transparent ang imong gibuhat. Para makita gyud ang atong accomplishment—dili lang ni ako, kun dili atong duha. As governor, I’ve noticed that whatever support we extend, kung dili mu-action ang mayor ug ang LGU, wala gyu’y mapuntahan ang among tabang….So the more paspas mo, the more ta mohatag, the more ta motabang,” the governor said, as she also encouraged other local chief executives to adopt similar practices.

The governor likewise assured the municipality of the province’s counterpart support to assist in the LGU’s rice and fuel subsidy initiatives amid prevailing economic challenges.

Mayor Suan clarified that while the municipality has taken steps to regulate informal “habal-habal” operations, the governor pushed for the provision of financial assistance to affected drivers.

During the Serbisyo Karaban, 87 drivers receive a subsidy of P3,000 intended to support their registration with accredited ride-hailing platforms. Upon successful registration, they will also be eligible for continued monthly assistance in the form of fuel and rice support from the LGU.

“Dako kaayo’g tabang si Gov. In fact, I initially said dili na nako sila tagaan, but she insisted nga tagaan sila aron makasugod ug mahimong legal ang ilang panginabuhian,” Mayor Suan said expressing his gratitude to the governor for the initiative.

Governor Baricuatro also reiterated her support for the completion and operationalization of the Cordova Community Hospital.

Mayor Suan said that the facility will help decongest hospitals in neighboring cities and municipalities while providing residents with more accessible healthcare services within the municipality. /𝑪𝑨𝑷𝑰𝑻𝑶𝑳 𝑷𝑰𝑶, 𝑷𝒉𝒐𝒕𝒐𝒔 𝒃𝒚 𝑨𝑹𝑱
