Cebu Governor Pamela Baricuatro joined local officials in launching early preparations for Sinulog 2027, aligning next year’s celebration with Cebu City’s long-term vision of becoming a “Sustainable, Smart and Inclusive” city by 2035.
Joining the governor were Cebu City Mayor Nestor Archival, chairman of Sinulog 2026–2027, and Vice Mayor Tommy Osmeña, chairman of Sinulog Foundation Inc., along with Madame Margot Osmeña, Sinulog Foundation Inc. President Engr. Ricky Dakay, and Cebu Archbishop Alberto “Abet” Uy.
The April 15 evening gathering also marked the kickoff meeting of the Sinulog Advisory Council, setting the tone for next year’s festival.
Archbishop Uy commended the collaboration between the provincial and city governments, noting the importance of unity in ensuring the continued success of the festival.
“I would also like to recognize the collaborative effort between Cebu Province, led by Governor Pam, and Cebu City, led by Mayor Nestor. It is truly uplifting to see our leaders working together—not in competition, but as a team,” he said in a Facebook post.
The archbishop also emphasized the spiritual dimension of the celebration:
“Sinulog is not just an event. It is a profession of faith… Everything we do must lead people closer to Him,” he said.
