The Cebu Provincial Government, in partnership with national agencies and private organizations, conducted a free surgical mission on Wednesday to bring reproductive health services closer to residents of Danao City.
A total of 31 residents benefited from the outreach program, which offered 26 bilateral tubal ligation procedures and five non-scalpel vasectomies.

The mission was carried out with the Department of Health–Central Visayas Center for Health Development (DOH-CVCHD), the Commission on Population and Development (CPD), the DKT Philippine Foundation Inc., and the Integrated Midwives Association of the Philippines (IMAP). The Cebu Provincial Hospital (CPH) in Danao City also supported the activity.
Capitol Piso Health Consultant Dr. Nikki Catalan said the numbers represented more than statistics, but families given the chance to plan for their future.

“These are not just numbers. These are families empowered, women supported, and men stepping up,” Dr. Catalan said.
She added that access to reproductive health is not merely a service but a right, and a key part of building healthier and more resilient communities.
The inclusion of vasectomies marked a step toward encouraging male participation in family planning, a sector often underrepresented in reproductive health programs.
The provincial government thanked its partners and healthcare workers for making the mission possible on the ground.
“We move forward, quietly, steadily, and with purpose,” Dr. Catalan said.
