In line with its Holy Week mobility plan, the Cebu Provincial Government has intensified operations at major bus terminals, deploying additional buses and directing operators to increase fleet availability to ease passenger congestion.

Governor Pamela Baricuatro completed her inspection of Capitol-run bus terminals with a visit to the Cebu South Bus Terminal (CSBT) on Wednesday, April 1, noting significant improvements in passenger flow and overall terminal conditions.
The governor expressed satisfaction over the smooth movement of passengers, a stark contrast to previous years when long queues would extend outside the facility.

“Akong dili gusto mahitabo nga maglinya sa gawas ang mga pasahero pareha sa unang mga katuigan,” Gov. Baricuatro said, adding that as someone who hails from Pinamungajan town, she used to see passengers lining up as far as a popular mall some 200 meters away from the terminal.
She said the Capitol has deployed eight buses for the “Libreng Sakay” program, with four units assigned to each of the two bus terminals. These buses are mobilized whenever passenger volume becomes overwhelming.

Ahmed Cuizon, administrator of the Capitol-run bus terminals, said priority boarding is given to senior citizens, persons with disabilities (PWDs), pregnant women, and families with young children, especially as passenger volume is expected to peak through the afternoon until the following day.
The governor also called on bus operators to augment their fleet in Cebu, saying that slow bus turnaround remains a primary cause of delays at the terminal.
PASSENGER CONVENIENCE
Under Gov. Baricuatro’s administration, the provincial government has prioritized the convenience of thousands of travelers at both the CSBT and the Cebu North Bus Terminal (CNBT). Both terminals have been equipped with clean toilets, functioning ventilation systems, and access to free drinking water.

Standby medical personnel, with ambulances, have also been deployed, along with teams from the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), to ensure a prompt response to emergencies.
Police presence remains high in both terminals, with K9 units deployed to bolster security.
By addressing long-standing issues such as overcrowding, inadequate facilities, and safety concerns, the Capitol aims to improve commuter experience and strengthen public trust in government services. I CAPITOL PIO
