Cebu Governor Pamela Baricuatro fought back tears on Monday, March 31, as she met with families who lost loved ones in the devastating Binaliw landfill collapse, some of whom were residents of the province.
The disaster claimed 36 lives and left 18 others injured.
The governor expressed deep sympathy and solidarity with the grieving families, assuring them that the provincial government continues to stand by them during this difficult time.
As part of the Capitol’s continuing support, financial assistance was extended to the families of the deceased through the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program, providing immediate relief as they begin to rebuild their lives after the tragedy.
Beneficiaries of the assistance included 11 from Consolacion, two from Mandaue, and one each from Minglanilla, Dalaguete, Badian, and Talisay.
