The Cebu Provincial Government rolled out its “Libreng Sakay” program on Tuesday, March 31, offering free transportation to priority passengers bound for both northern and southern Cebu in time for the Holy Week travel surge.

The initiative is expected to help decongest major transport terminals while easing travel costs for vulnerable sectors during the peak season.

Jason Maceren, manager of the Cebu North Bus Terminal, personally supervised the first batch of beneficiaries who availed of the service at noon on March 31.

The program, under the administration of Governor Pamela Baricuatro, aims to ensure safer, more accessible, and inclusive transportation services. Priority is given to senior citizens, persons with disabilities (PWDs), pregnant women, and families traveling with small children.

Ahmed Cuizon, administrator of Capitol-run bus terminals, said the program forms part of the Capitol’s broader effort to provide inclusive public services, especially during high-demand travel periods such as Holy Week.

He also extended wishes for a safe and peaceful observance of Holy Week among Cebuanos and visiting travelers expected to flock to Cebu’s bus terminals and ports. | CAPITOL PIO
