In a world that oftentimes measures worth by likes and shares, Gov. Pamela Baricuatro had a stark message for the newest graduates of Tuburan National High School: your value is not found in a notification.

Delivering the commencement address, the governor traded traditional political platitudes for a blunt, heartfelt call to the youth, urging them to reject the “pressure” of social media and define success on their own terms.
“Dili ninyo kinahanglan sundon ang sukdanan sa uban,” she told the graduates, their parents, and teachers. “Ayaw ninyo ikumpara inyong kaugalingon sa inyong makita online. Kay ang inyong makita didto—mga highlights ra na.”

“Your journey is your own,” she added.
The governor acknowledged that the next phase of their lives will be fraught with challenges, from self-doubt to the exhausting race to keep up with curated lives online.
But she reminded the batch that their strength was already forged in the struggles they overcame to reach this day.

“Nakakita ko og mga batan-ong lig-on, nga nakaagi og kalisod, ug nakat-on unsaon pagbangon bisan pa sa kapakyasan,” she said.
In a show of support for academic excellence, the governor awarded ₱10,000 each to two outstanding students who achieved the distinction of Highest Honors, including one from Grade 11 and another from Grade 12.
As the graduates prepare to step into a new chapter, Gov. Baricuatro left them with three imperatives: remain humble, remain strong, remain true.

“Dili sukod sa inyong bili ang likes, shares, o approval sa uban. Ang inyong bili makita sa inyong kinaiya ug sa inyong mga desisyon,” Gov. Baricuatro said.
Ending with a message of support from the provincial government, the governor urged graduates to persevere despite the uncertainty, as the hope of the province remains with them.
“Bisag lisod—padayon. Bisag hadlok—padayon. Bisag kapoy—padayon gihapon, she said.
