She made a promise, and she kept it.
Gov. Pamela Baricuatro led the turnover of cash incentives to Cebu’s standout Batang Pinoy medalists at the Capitol on Thursday, fulfilling her pledge to honor the young athletes who brought home glory from the national sporting event in October 2025.

The Batang Pinoy medalists showcased their excellence as they competed to represent the province in various martial arts disciplines during the week-long tournament.
A total of seven athletes were rewarded for their podium finishes, with the gold medalist receiving ₱20,000 and bronze medalists taking home ₱10,000 apiece.

Promise fulfilled
During the turnover, Governor Baricuatro proudly recalled her promise to the athletes, saying, “Diba ni promise ta didto sa Social Hall nga naay award? This is it.” She also expressed her joy over the team’s success, adding, “Sus naka-gold gyud ta ha, Cebu Province.”
Leading the contingent was Jack C. Wilcock, who clinched a gold medal in arnis live stick and a bronze in the padded stick categories.

Meanwhile, the other bronze medalists included Jellian Kate Suaring (arnis – padded stick), Aljun Noval (Arnis – padded stick), Aga Noval (arnis – padded stick), Ervien Niño Jubay (karatedo – 12–13 yrs. kata boys), and Elijah King Pacallagan (karatedo – 12–13 yrs. kumite boys).
The incentives received by the athletes demonstrated the provincial government’s commitment to nurturing young homegrown talent and recognizing their hard work and dedication.
