Cebu Gov. Pamela Baricuatro and Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Vincent Dizon on Wednesday inspected key flood control projects in Cebu that were damaged by Typhoon Tino in November 2025.
Gov. Baricuatro, Dizon, and officials from the DPWH Regional Office led an ocular inspection of major river systems, including the Mananga River in Talisay City and the Butuanon River, which traverses Cebu City and Mandaue City.

The team also visited residents of Villa del Rio in Barangay Bacayan, one of the communities severely hit by the typhoon, to assess their situation and ensure that immediate government interventions are in place.
Dizon assured the governor that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. had directed the DPWH to expedite all flood control projects and ensure their completion before the onset of the rainy season.

The national government has allotted P4 billion for the recovery and reconstruction efforts in Cebu following a series of calamities last year that damaged infrastructure in the province.
“Before the rainy season comes, protected na po kayo dito… That’s our commitment, sabi po ni PBBM. That’s the order, that’s why I’m here,” Dizon said.
