The Regional Peace and Order Council in Central Visayas (RPOC-7) has begun strengthening security coordination and preparedness across the region ahead of the 48th ASEAN Leaders’ Summit in May, stressing the role of local governments in ensuring a safe and stable environment for international events.
Atty. Kevin Dinsay represented Cebu Governor Pamela Baricuatro at the RPOC-7’s first-quarter meeting held at a hotel in Cebu City on Thursday, March 19.

The meeting was presided over by Cebu City Mayor Nestor Archival, who also chairs RPOC-7, and was attended by key national line agencies, including DILG-7 Director Leocadio Trovela.
Mayor Archival thanked the council for their commitment to keeping peace and order in the region, saying that peace and order is the foundation of progress and development.
Among the matters discussed were security preparations for the 48th ASEAN Leaders’ Summit scheduled in May, including the provincial government’s requests to the Cebu City government to help decongest roads during the summit dates. These include shifting classes to asynchronous modes and suspending the issuance of running event permits, among others. /photos Cebu City PIO
