The Cebu Provincial Government continues to intensify the rollout of affordable rice across the province, in close coordination with the Department of Agriculture, to ensure a stable and sufficient supply for Cebuanos amid the impact of rising market costs.
Rice sourced from Planters Products, Inc. (PPI) and Food Terminal Inc. (FTI), including its “Binhi” rice, is currently being sold in public markets at P48 per kilogram. Also included in the rollout is “Queen Bee Rice,” a DT8 variety from Vietnam, which is retailed at the same price.
Gov. Pamela S. Baricuatro said the province remains proactive in aligning with national agriculture partners to strengthen supply chains and stabilize prices, with the goal of further reducing rice costs in the coming weeks.
The well-milled rice being distributed provides a reliable and affordable option for consumers.
The rollout is currently ongoing in the municipalities of Balamban, Asturias, and Toledo, with additional stocks being mobilized to expand distribution across the entire province. I CAPITOL PIO/ File photo
