Officials from Cordova town, led by Mayor Didoy Suan, met with Gov. Pamela Baricuatro at the Provincial Capitol on Tuesday, March 17, 2025, to discuss the completion and operationalization of the Cordova Community Hospital.
The proposed facility is set to operate as a 10-bed infirmary that will provide essential inpatient, emergency, maternal, pediatric and minor procedural services to Cordova residents.

Gov. Baricuatro expressed full support for the initiative, saying that improving healthcare services remains a top priority of her administration.
With the completion of the project, the governor said it would help reduce patient referrals and ease congestion in tertiary hospitals.

To operate the hospital, the municipality has sought financial assistance to fund infrastructure improvements, the procurement of medical equipment, the enhancement of diagnostic capabilities, and the establishment of hospital information systems.
Mayor Suan shared that the facility was originally constructed around 2009 to 2010 as a slaughterhouse but was later converted into a hospital in 2013. However, due to right-of-way issues, the project was not fully implemented and remained nonoperational.

The local government assured that while the hospital will initially function as an infirmary, its equipment and systems will be aligned with future requirements for Level 1 hospital accreditation under national health standards.
Meanwhile, Mayor Suan also reported that the municipality’s P7.5-million drainage project is currently 40 percent complete.
