Gov. Pamela Baricuatro led the kick-off ceremony for the National Women’s Month celebration and the awarding of outstanding women in law enforcement on Monday, March 9, at the Cebu Police Provincial Office (CPPO).

In her speech, Gov. Baricuatro acknowledged the challenges women face in leadership roles while emphasizing the strength and determination they bring to public service.

“I personally understand the challenges women face when stepping into leadership roles. But I also know the strength, compassion, and determination that women bring to public service,” the governor said.

“When I look at our women police officers, I see that same strength. You carry not only the responsibility of protecting our communities, but also the responsibility of showing young girls everywhere that women can lead, protect, and serve with courage,” she added.

The governor also highlighted how women continue to thrive in traditionally male-dominated fields.

“Your work proves that women are not limited by stereotypes. Women can wear the badge, enforce the law, lead units, and stand on the frontlines of peace and order,” she said.

The initiative reflects CPPO’s continuing efforts to promote gender equality while upholding the rights and dignity of every woman.

Gov. Baricuatro also assured the provincial government’s continued support for programs that empower women and protect their rights, ensuring that every woman in Cebu has the opportunity to grow, lead, and succeed.

As part of the Women’s Month celebration, ten women from the police force, legal sector, and community peacekeeping groups were awarded Certificates of Appreciation for their exemplary service and dedication.
