As part of their preparations for an upcoming national convention, members of the Association of Sanitation Inspectors of Cebu Province Inc. (ASICPI) paid a courtesy visit to Governor Pamela Baricuatro on Friday, March 6.

The visit underscored the provincial government’s push to strengthen sanitation and public health initiatives, including the planned “Clean Cebu Campaign,” which aims to improve hygiene standards and environmental health across Cebu’s cities and municipalities.

The national convention, themed around the evolving landscape of public health and environmental hygiene, will be held from April 28 to 30 in Cordova, said Chloe Marie Stella Polizon, the provincial coordinator of ASICPI.

She was joined by sanitary inspectors from Cebu’s component cities and municipalities, as well as executives of the National Sanitation Inspectors of the Philippines, namely Jinolex Caingles (VP Internal) and Joseph Orayle (VP External).

Governor Baricuatro expressed full support for the convention, including financial aid for its successful staging, recognizing the vital role sanitation inspectors play in safeguarding public health in the province.

“We are launching a ‘Clean Cebu Campaign,” Governor Baricuatro said. “So know that we appreciate how important the work you are doing for our cities and municipalities. Of course, we will be supportive of your endeavors.”

During the meeting, the delegation briefed Gov. Baricuatro on the convention’s objectives, which include bringing together sanitation experts from across the Philippines to share best practices and innovative strategies for improving community health.

A sanitation inspector ensures public health by enforcing sanitation laws, conducting routine inspections of food establishments, water supplies, and public facilities, and investigating health hazards. They identify violations, collect samples for testing, and educate communities on proper hygiene practices to help prevent disease outbreaks. |𝑪𝑨𝑷𝑰𝑻𝑶𝑳 𝑷𝑰𝑶, 𝑷𝒉𝒐𝒕𝒐𝒔 𝒃𝒚 𝑭𝑬
