The Cebu Provincial Government has commenced last Thursday and Friday, February 26 and 27, 2026, a boarding and alighting field survey covering major travel corridors from the Cebu South Bus Terminal.

The survey, made by the Planning and Development Office’s (PPDO) Local Public Transport Route Plan (LPTRP) team, gathered data on passenger volume, peak hours, loading and unloading points, and travel demand patterns.

The LPTRP is a transportation development plan that the PPDO is crafting at the provincial level, in coordination with the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board; Department of Transportation; Cebu local government units; and transport operators, who assisted especially in data gathering and consultations.

The survey is meant to improve route efficiency, optimize services, and ensure safer, more convenient travel in Cebu.

Last Thurday and Friday’s activity marked the start of a province-wide series of transport studies this year, including license plate, vehicle and passenger count; terminal dispatch and arrival; and driver, operator, and passenger interview surveys.

The survey reinforces Governor Pamela S. Baricuatro’s commitment to data-driven planning for a more responsive and future-ready public transport system across the province of Cebu.

In particular, the LPTRP team inspected the route to Bato Port, Samboan via Oslob and Barili towns, as well as selected inter-municipal routes in southern Cebu.

The team intends to do the survey for all 300 or so routes within Cebu province. /𝑪𝑨𝑷𝑰𝑻𝑶𝑳 𝑷𝑰𝑶, 𝑷𝑷𝑫𝑶
