The Cebu Provincial Land Use Committee (PLUC) convened on Thursday, February 26, 2026, and went over Oslob town’s Comprehensive Land Use Plan (CLUP), providing inputs to refine and improve the document.
The town is the first Cebu local government unit (LGU) this year to have the PLUC review its CLUP, which will serve as the town’s guide in the use of its land, particularly for residential, commercial, and agricultural or industrial use, until 2034.

The Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development, Department of Agrarian Reform, Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Department of Agriculture, and the Department of Trade and Industry were among the PLUC member-offices present during the deliberation.
Cebu Provincial Government offices, like the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office, Provincial Treasurer’s Office, Provincial Engineering Office, and the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, were also around to help Oslob improve the draft document.

Following that meeting, Oslob is expected to comply with the recommendations and submit the revised document to the Provincial Planning and Development Office (PPDO), which also served as secretariat of the meeting.
The PPDO would, in turn, refer the updated document to the concerned offices that made the recommendations, for checking of full compliance.

Section 20(c) of Republic Act No. 7160 (Local Government Code of 1991) grants LGUs the power to reclassify its agricultural lands. The reclassification is enshrined in the CLUP approved through a zoning ordinance that passes through the municipal council.
The zoning ordinance must also pass through the Cebu Provincial Board before the town could use it, especially as blueprint for potential investors interested in opening businesses in the municipality.

Last Thursday’s activity, which Atty. Kevin Dinsay presided over on behalf of Governor Pamela S. Baricuatro, who is currently in Japan for a trade mission, is part of the Cebu Provincial Government’s thrust towards inclusive governance by LGUs in its efforts to make Cebu a better place for the people. /𝑪𝑨𝑷𝑰𝑻𝑶𝑳 𝑷𝑰𝑶, 𝑷𝑷𝑫𝑶
