The Capitol’s chiefs of hospitals (COHs) have launched a new initiative to strengthen collaboration across Capitol-run hospitals by rotating their monthly meetings to different facilities.
This was announced by Dr. Nikki Catalan, Capitol’s piso health consultant, in her Facebook page on February 27 following the group’s latest meeting hosted by Cebu Provincial Hospital – Balamban, headed by Dr. Olivia Dandan.
“Strong hospitals are built not just through equipment and infrastructure, but through leadership, collaboration, and accountability,” Dr. Catalan said.
Instead of meeting solely at the Capitol, hospital leaders now gather on-site to see conditions firsthand, benchmark services, share best practices, and identify gaps that need urgent attention.
The rotation also promotes mentorship and peer support among hospital administrators, reinforcing accountability and shared leadership across the province’s healthcare network.
Cebu Province operates 16 hospitals that serve communities throughout the mainland and island municipalities. Four of them are provincial hospitals while the remaining 12 are district hospitals.
By bringing hospital leaders closer to the realities within each institution, the Capitol aims to build a more responsive, coordinated, and resilient provincial health system — one strengthened not only by infrastructure upgrades, but by unified leadership and shared commitment to public service. | CAPITOL PIO
