TOKYO, JAPAN — As part of the Cebu–Tokyo Trade Mission organized by the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI), the Cebu delegation led by Governor Pam S. Baricuatro and Cebu City Mayor Nestor Archival met with officials of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government to learn about urban resilience and disaster preparedness initiatives.

Following engagements focused on healthcare innovations and waste management solutions, the delegation sat down with Tokyo officials to discuss the city’s Resilience Project, which highlights strategies on disaster risk reduction, emergency response systems, and long-term planning aimed at protecting communities from natural hazards.

Discussions also covered Tokyo’s flood control measures, including river management systems and infrastructure designed to address negative impact of flooding, as well as preparations for sea level rise and other climate-related risks.
The exchange provided valuable insights for Cebu leaders as they continue to strengthen disaster preparedness, readiness, and climate adaptation efforts in the province and the island as a whole.

The activity forms part of the broader Cebu–Tokyo Trade Mission spearheaded by CCCI, reinforcing collaboration between government and the private sector in exploring global best practices that can help build safer, more resilient, and future-ready communities for Cebuanos. | 𝑪𝒂𝒑𝒊𝒕𝒐𝒍 𝑷𝑰𝑶
