To prevent shortages of essential medicines, the Cebu Provincial Government has been closely monitoring pharmacy supplies on a weekly basis in all 16 health facilities under its supervision.
The Provincial Health Office (PHO), together with Capitol Piso Health Consultant Dr. Nikki Catalan, has put in place a system that conducts weekly inventory checks. This ensures that pharmacists actively manage stocks and can anticipate potential gaps.

Early detection of supply issues allows for faster replenishment and minimizes disruptions in patient care at the province’s four provincial and 12 district hospitals.
The initiative stems from a direct order of Gov. Pamela Baricuatro, who stressed that no Capitol-run hospital should ever find itself without an adequate medicine supply.

Under the directive, the governor emphasized that patients should not be forced to buy medicines from outside pharmacies unless the needed medicines are truly unavailable at the facilities.
Through stricter inventory oversight and streamlined replenishment, the Capitol continues to strengthen healthcare delivery and ensure reliable access to medicines for Cebuanos relying on Capitol hospitals. | CAPITOL PIO
