In a proactive move to strengthen emergency preparedness, medical and non-medical personnel from several Capitol-run hospitals successfully completed Basic Life Support (BLS) Training this February.

The initiative equipped participants, including nurses, medical officers, drivers, and utility workers, with essential skills to respond effectively during critical situations.

“BLS skills are essential for all frontline personnel. In critical situations, the first few minutes can make the difference between life and death. With trained teams across our facilities, life-saving care can begin immediately while awaiting advanced support,” said Capitol Piso Health Consultant Dr. Nikki Catalan.

Capitol-run hospitals with personnel who have completed BLS training include:

The Provincial Health Office training program is one of the many reforms implemented under the administration of Gov. Pamela Baricuatro, reaffirming the provincial government’s pursuit to its “No Cebuano Left Behind” agenda.

“The training forms part of a broader effort to continuously upskill the healthcare workforce and ensure safer, more responsive hospital services for every Cebuano,” Dr. Catalan said.

The piso health consultant lauded trainer John Noel Enriquez for his tireless dedication, expertise, and commitment to building life-saving capabilities across the province’s hospitals. She also thanked facilitators and participants for their enthusiasm to learning and service.
