Capitol Piso Health Consultant Dr. Nikki Catalan said one of the first of many life-saving equipment upgrades is now in place across the Capitol-run provincial hospitals.
C-arm, a mobile imaging machine that provide real-time X-ray guidance during procedures have just been delivered and will be deployed to Level 2, Level 1, and soon-to-be Level 1 hospitals.
“Distribution is carefully planned. Units were prioritized for hospitals with existing specialists who can immediately optimize use, as well as facilities that are actively recruiting or expanding surgical staff,” she said.
Dr. Catalan said C-arm technology is essential for many procedures, including Orthopedic surgery, especially trauma and fracture fixation, Urologic procedures (e.g., kidney stone interventions), Gastrointestinal procedures requiring fluoroscopic guidance, Gynecologic procedures, Pain management and spine interventions, and elected vascular and interventional procedures.
This forms part of Capitol’s ongoing hospital reform program to steadily equip provincial facilities with modern tools bringing safe, high-quality care closer to communities.
“With equipment gaps gradually being addressed, we also invite specialists to serve in our hospitals on a full-time or part-time basis.
