Palayan City, capital of the Province of Nueva Ecija, has extended ₱396,400 in assistance to Cebu to support the rehabilitation of communities devastated by Typhoon Tino — highlighting growing solidarity among local government units during times of disaster recovery.

Palayan City Mayor Viandrei Nicole Cuevas personally handed two checks to Governor Pamela Baricuatro during her visit to the Capitol on February 16.

She was accompanied by Councilor Mader Sta. Maria, chairperson of the Committee on Appropriation and Budget; Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer Ferdinand Hilado; and City Treasurer Mary Jane Villareal.

Cuevas said the assistance was raised through a benefit concert organized by the local government to provide meaningful support to Cebu’s recovery efforts.

Governor Baricuatro expressed gratitude to the Palayan City delegation, noting the significance of their nearly 800-kilometer journey to personally deliver aid.

She added that Cebu would remember the gesture as a symbol of unity and compassion among Philippine local governments in responding to disasters.
