Straight from the 503rd anniversary of the Kadaugan sa Mactan with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., Cebu Governor Gwen Garcia has once again demonstrated her commitment to improving the lives of the Cebuanos by travelling all the way to the Municipality of Medellin in northern Cebu for the inauguration of an important road project.
The concreting and improvement of the Brgy. Caputatan Norte — Brgy. Dalingding Sur Road Section has been completed and the Governor, with Mayor Joven Mondigo and members of the municipal council formally turned it over to the public in a simple ceremony there.
She was joined by Congresswoman Janice Ssalimbangon of the fourth district, as well as distric Board Members Mela Franco and Kerrie Shimura. LMP President and Daanbantayan Mayor Sun Shimura was also present in show of support for the development in his neighboring LGU.
With a contract cost of P59 million, this road covers a length of 3.2 kilometers, with a width of 6.1 meters. The road’s cement thickness of 23 centimeters ensures its durability, promising a smooth and reliable transportation route for years to come.
“Maningkamot ko og taman sa ginhawa aron maarang-arang ang kahimtang sa mga Sugboanon,” the governor said in her speech.
Governor Gwen emphasized the importance of infrastructure projects like this in fostering connectivity and promoting economic growth in the area. She highlighted the significant impact that improved roads can have on the lives of residents, providing easier access to essential services and boosting local businesses and land valuation.
Local officials and residents alike expressed their gratitude for this vital road project, thanking the Capitol for its unwavering dedication to the development of Medellin.
“Dako akong pasalamat sa maong proyekto. Di matukib ang akong kalipay,” Mayor Mondigo said.
This project is just the beginning of a series of infrastructure developments planned for Medellin, as the government continues to prioritize projects that directly impact the lives of its residents and drive progress in the municipality. With Governor Garcia at the helm, the future looks bright for Medellin, with improved roads paving the way for a better tomorrow. | JT
