The Provincial Government of Cebu is expected to earn additional income as it aims to improve processing of Philhealth claims in district and provincial-run hospitals.
In a meeting on Monday, Gov. Gwen Garcia urged chiefs of hospitals to be efficient in processing claims from the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth).
The Capitol has been facing challenges in coping with revenue deficit due to the denial of claims from PhilHealth, citing reasons such as non-compliance with documentary requirements and filing beyond the 60-day deadline, resulting in a significant loss of revenue for the hospitals.
To address the issue, Governor Garcia called on hospital administrators and PhilHealth, headed by their Regional Vice President, Marjorie Cabrieto, to streamline their processes and ensure that all necessary documents are submitted in a timely manner to avoid claims denial.
She emphasized the importance of maximizing revenue from PhilHealth reimbursements to sustain the operations of the Capitol hospitals and improve healthcare services for the people of Cebu.
“Tabang mo. Kadtong mga kabus mao na lang gayud atoang unahon. They deserve number one, topnotch services. You walk the extra mile,” Gov. Garcia told the chief of hospitals.
The Capitol is also taking proactive steps to monitor and track revenues through the use of a new software called “Medical Census.” The software requires hospitals to submit data quarterly, including the names of patients, the amount of assistance received from PhilHealth, total hospital bills, and any discounts applied.
“PhilHealth is here to support Governor Gwen’s plan for the Province of Cebu,” said Cabrieto.
By implementing this new system, the Cebu Provincial Government aims to ensure that all revenues are properly accounted for and monitored, ultimately leading to better financial management and improved healthcare services for the people of Cebu.
Governor Garcia is committed to working closely with hospital administrators to address revenue challenges and enhance the overall efficiency and effectiveness of healthcare delivery in the province. | JT
