The air is now cleared as to the precise technical location of the 8.4-hectare property that the Capitol has successfully recovered from Pagtambayayong Foundation Inc. (PFI).
“So settled nata kay I just want this to be clarified,” Gov. Gwen Garcia told PFI executive director Paula Fernandez during a meeting on April 18 at the Capitol.
Gov. Garcia ordered the review of the subject property after PFI turned over to the Capitol the 8.4-hecatare lot of the original 24-hectare property that was covered by a joint venture agreement between the parties.
Under the agreement entered into during the term of former governor Lito Osmeña in 1991, PFI was tasked with developing 24 hectares of Capitol lots in Brgy. Kalunasan in Cebu City into low-cost housing project, with revenue-sharing terms.
However, financial constraints on the part of PFI led to the development of only 16.4 hectares, leaving 8.4 hectares undeveloped. This forced PFI to sign an amended agreement in December last year for the return of the remaining undeveloped lots back to the Capitol which could put the property to better use.
During the meeting on Thursday, which was also attended by former executive director Bimbo Fernandez, Paula said that the returned lot constitutes the entirety of the “undeveloped” area to cover home lots, open spaces, and road networks as outlined in the agreement.
“Gi-review lang ni Gov ang sharing kung pila gyud ang total which I think is a good exercise also for Pagtambayayong in terms of housekeeping,” she told 𝐒𝐮𝐠𝐛𝐨 𝐍𝐞𝐰𝐬.
The resolution of lot sharing concerns reflects the commitment of both parties to uphold the principles of fairness and accountability.
“We’re very happy nga na-satisfy namo ang Province nga we have complied with the agreement sa joint venture,” Bimbo said. | BJR
