More national government agencies and state institutions have joined forces with the Provincial Government in making the quarterly Caravan of Services even bigger and grander.
At the kick-off event of the caravan for the third quarter led by Gov. Gwen Garcia in Alcoy town, southern Cebu on Wednesday, additional government agencies have brought their services closer and accessible to the Cebuanos.
The Department of Agriculture's 'Kadiwa ng Pangulo' program joins the caravan for the first time, offering the locals in the 2nd district several basic commodities at cheaper prices.
Cebu Province is the first LGU to integrate and implement this program together with the caravan, the first of its kind in the country.
The Kadiwa program serves as a venue for local farmers and entrepreneurs to directly sell their products to the public.
In fact, several residents were able to buy NFA rice at P25 per kilo only, about half the price of commercial rice.
The University of the Philippines-Cebu has also joined the caravan by offering consultation, and briefing about the state-run university's scholarship programs and Master's programs.
Armed personnel of the Armed Forces of the Philippines also offered free haircut to dozens of beneficiaries.
Board member Dr. Stanley Caminero also offered free "tuli" to several kids here.
Other agencies that have offered their respective services are GSIS, LTO, Registry of Deeds, DSWD, PRC, and Office of the Presidential Assistant for the Visayas. The services they offered are on top of the major services and much-needed assistance extended by Capitol through its various departments.
Joining Gov. Gwen at the caravan were Provincial Board members Raymond Joseph Calderon and Caminero, Cong. Edsel Galeos, host Mayor Mayor Michael Angelo Sestoso, and the mayors of Argao, Boljoon, Dalaguete, Oslob, Samboan, and Santander. | Carlo Lorenciana
