An estimated P85.7 million worth of infrastructure projects were inaugurated by Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia during her 1-day visit in the municipality of Argao on Tuesday, July 4.
Over half of the amount or P49.2 million was spent for the concreting works of the 4.06 kilometer Cambanua-Jomgao-Panadtaran access road. The road network traverses through the three barangays. This road section is an alternative route to the national highway, thereby helping ease vehicular traffic along the town’s main road.
Congressman Edsel Galeos of Cebu’s second district and Vice Mayor Orvi Ortega accompanied the governor here; as well as district Board Members Raymond Joseph Calderon and Doc Stanley Caminero.
The 1.9-km Bae-Mompeller access road, worth ₱26.4 million, has also been opened to the public. The access road connects Sitio Bae to Brgy. Mompeller which will provide more options for vehicles bound south.
The governor also visited the newly paved Argao Port Road Section, which Capitol allocated ₱8.5 million. The road section traverses just beside the municipal hall.
This important road section will facilitate the convenient passage for passengers and cargos going to the port which connects Argao to Bohol, helping boost the local economy here.
During the inauguration, Governor Garcia also checked on the Sugbusog Garden of the Argao Municipal Police Station located alongside the road section.
The new Langtad Barangay Road Section, which was finished at a contract cost of ₱1.6 million, was also turned over by the governor to the public, along with the road’s solar-powered, reinforced concrete lamp post pedestals.
All of these new roads measures 484 meters long, 6.1 meters wide, and cement thickness of 9 inches. | Baby Jane Revecoy with Niña Tricia Caritan, Seth Dominic A. Unabia / CNU Broadcast Journalism Interns
