The country’s leading events and exposition organizer, Worldbex Services International (WSI) brought back to Cebu the trio of industrial expositions that made the island a commercial hub in the Southern Philippines.
Acting Governor Vice Governor-elect Agnes Magpale led the ceremonial cutting of the ribbon for the 10th Philippine Building and Construction Exposition (Philbex), 7th Cebu Auto Show and the 5th Cebu Food and Beverage Exposition (Cefbex) last May 23-26 at the Cebu International Convention Center (CICC), Mandaue City.
Magpale thanked WSI Founding Chair Joseph Ang for bringing the biggest exposition of the three industries in Cebu and said they were not mistaken by their choice.
“All of these not only find a perfect ambience but also a conducive market here in Cebu,” said Magpale, who added that Cebu was greatly honored to host the event.
According to Magpale, the construction industry thrives in the province because of its “strategic topography, good climate and vibrant economy.”
Joseph Ang was also thankful for the support of the provincial government throughout the years. He said he was proud for Cebu’s undeniable growth in the past years. He added that the increase of high rise and low rise buildings all over the island signaled an “existing construction boom.”
To satisfy the growing demands of advancement in the three industries, Ang stated they come to Cebu to help ensure the province “lived up to its name as the melting pot of Southern Philippines.”
WSI Managing Director Jill Ang shared that Cebu is “ripe” as the trade center in the Visayas and Mindanao region. Last year, WSI achieved a highest record of 30,000 show attendees that generated sales for the Visayas and Mindanao markets.
Jill Ang said this year’s Worldbex triple exposition in Cebu is the biggest so far with the gathering of the finest and brightest names in the industries occupying around 500 booths at CICC.
Philbex also added secondary components to improve local construction trade market such as industry seminars, the latest construction technology innovations, inventive product lines and equipments from trusted companies like Mariwasa, Kenneth and Mock, BOYSEN, and Wilcon Depot.
The Cebu Auto Show is also on its 7th year. No less than Ford, Mazda, Nissan, Chevrolet, Great Wall and other established worldwide car brands participated in the car expo.
Magpale also stated that WSI fittingly included the food and beverage component in its “triple tropical treat.”
“Because Cebu is a prime tourist destination in the country, food and beverages in different varieties have become a must for restaurants and hotels where domestic and foreign tourists go and stay,” she said.
Ang congratulated Magpale for her win in the vice gubernatorial race last May 13. Reelected Mandaue City Mayor Jonas Cortes was also invited to the event but was not able to come.
