The Univeristy of Southern Philippines Foundation donated 300 College Alegbra books to the Cebu Provincial Government. Dr. Althea R. Arenajo, USPF Dean of the College of Pharmacy, faciliated the donation.
Governor Hilario P. Davide III and Vice Governor Agnes A. Magpale received the books in behalf of the Provincial Government. Arenajo said in her message during the handover ceremonied that education is her advocacy and that it is her desire to contribute to further the cause of education of Filipinos. Arenajo said the 300 books can be used to help prepare for the K-12 program of the Department of Education where College Algebra will be integrated in the curriculum for Grades 7 and 8 students.
Arenajo also divulged that she opted to donate college algebra books because as an educator from the tertiary level, she noticed that college students have poor performance in mathematics.
Provincial Board Member Peter John D. Calderon, Committee Chairman on Education of the Provincial Board, was also present to accept and acknowledge the donation.
