Tuburan relishes Sinulog moments

The municipality of Tuburan relished winning moments as its contingent grabbed major awards in the 2014 Sinulog Festival.

It started with the Tuburan National High School dominating the Sinulog sa Kabataan sa Lalawigan in its own division last January 11.

In the Sinulog Grand Parade on Sunday, January 20, the contingent finished third- right behind the accomplished dancers of Placer Masbate and Tangub City, who placed first and second, respectively.

Town Mayor Democrito “Aljun” Diamante was very proud with the accomplishment of his dancers considering that this was only the second time that they joined the Sinulog Festival.

He thanked every member of the crew for giving his or her best.

The town’s Festival Queen Christine Jael Abellanosa also won the Sinulog Festival Queen Search in a record-breaking fashion. Abellanosa was the first contestant, who also won 11 awards in the competition.

This was the greatest feat that the town achieved so far in its infant years in cultural competitions.

In earlier interview, Diamante admitted their budget exceeded P4 million-much higher than the prizes of the competition.

But he said he does not mind as their intention is nobler than the cash reward they can win.

“Ang amo lang mo-apil gyud mi samtang ma kaya pa isip pa salamat kang Senior Sto. Niño sa maayong panahon ug panglawas,” he said.

The mayor also thanked the patron Child for the fine weather during the grand parade despite sporadic rain showers and cold land breeze.

The entire Sinulog days were marked by cloudy and rainy sky. But it never really rain hard when the Cebuanos needed fine weather for its religious and cultural activities. Xerxes Alkuino
