The Metro Cebu Development and Coordinating Board (“MCDCB”) held its third quarter meeting on August 13, 2013. The MCDCB is composed of six cities and seven municipalities namely, the cities of Lapu-lapu, Mandaue, Naga, Danao, Talisay and Cebu and the municipalities of Cordova, Consolacion, Compostela, Minglanilla, San Fernando and Liloan, the private sectors, civil organizations and regional agencies.
Governor Hilario Davide III who acted as the Chairperson delivered the welcome address then presided the meeting. The gathering dealt with the projects that the Province aims at implementing in the cities and municipalities of Cebu.
Gov. Davide also confirmed the appointment of Mr. Gordon Alan Joseph as interim Co-Chair of the MCDCB and MCDCB Research, Program and Organizational Development (RPOD).
In the year 2015, Cebu will be hosting three events of the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation APEC Summit 2015. Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) President, Mr.Lito Maderazo, emphasized to the MCDCB members and organizers of the need to solve the traffic problem within the Province before the year 2014 ends, especially the road of Mandaue and Lapu-lapu City. He also pointed out infrastructure and road network problems of the Province.
Ms. Caroline Ballesteros, Communications and Stakeholder Relationships Manager for Mega Cebu discussed the highlights of the Mega Cebu Fest, which is a month long celebration that will kick-off on the first week of September. During the event, Mega Cebu Ambassador will also be chosen from among several participants.
Last 24 March 2013 the MCDCB launched the “Mega Cebu Vision 2050” with a theme, MEGA CEBU ; Making W.A.V.ES (Wholesome, Advanced, Vibrant, Equitable, and Sustainable). (Lee De la Cerna)
