In commemorating the historical event of World War (WW) II, the re-enactment of Talisay Landing held at the beachfront in Barangay Poblacion, Talisay City last March 26, 2013 shows the patriotism of Filipinos. Cebu Acting Governor Agnes Magpale shared 100 thousand pesos to Talisay City Government as support for the said event. Talisay City spent 1.5 million pesos for the renovation of the landing area and another 500,000 pesos for the activity.

The wreath-laying and offering of flowers were done by Diplomat Yasu Hasul of Japan, US Consul John Domingo, Rep. Eduardo Gullas and Talisay City Mayor Socrates Fernandez. Acting Governor Magpale attended the event and expressed her appreciation and thanks to the people who had fought during WW II. Talisay City College students played as the Filipino soldiers and Japanese forces while the military’s Central Command (Centcom) portrayed the U.S. troops.

March 26 is a special working holiday, declared under Republic Act 10359 for the purpose of giving tribute to the war veterans of Talisay.
