Kenny Rogers Rocacurva fired a game-high 33 points to lift San Francisco past the Consolacion Sarok Weavers, 84-68, in Game 1 of the North Division best-of-three final series of the 2nd Governor’s Cup Intercities/Municipalities Basketball Tournament at the San Francisco Gym last July 8.
San Franciso controlled the game from start to finish behind the razzle-dazzle plays of Rocacurva and Wilson Pleños, taking a 13-point lead, 62-49, at the end of the third period.
Egged by the cheers of hometown fans, San Francisco resumed their fiery attack, opening the fourth quarter with a 12-5 run to increase its lead, 70-53, and never looked back until the final buzzer sounded.
Pleños scored 16 points, while Jake Laurence Gonzales added 12 to help San Francisco move a win shy of clinching the Division title.
Patrick Montaño led the way for Consolacion with 24 points, while Emmanuel Villamor chipped in 20.
Game 2 will be hosted by Consolacion tomorrow night, July 11, with another victory of San Francisco will give the latter the right to face the South Division champion Talisay City in a best-of-three series for the overall crown.
