The persons with disabilities (PWD) in the municipality of San Remigio will get a PWD-friendly service vehicle.
Governor Hilario P. Davide III approved the vehicle request in a meeting with about 850 PWDs in San Remigio and local officials last July 1 at the Capitol.
The vehicle would cost around Php 800,000. It will have a ramp and would be used for PWD activities in San Remigio.
Governor Davide also committed to the individual requests of PWD members in the meeting like crutches and prosthetic foot.
The governor also agreed in principle to make the Capitol building more accessible to PWDs by providing a ramp in its main entrance and main building.
Last year, the Capitol’s executive building finally has an elevator to serve senior citizens and PWDs.
Jerry Ursaiz, president of PWD Federation-Cebu Province, said they are thankful that the province is mindful of the accessibility law.
However, he said that a ramp is still necessary in case the elevators malfunction.
In the meeting, Para Games Track and Field Gold Medalist Arman Dino also met with the governor.
Dino is asking for support as he is about to participate in the Olympic Qualifying Tournament later this year.
Dino was also top five finalist in the Asian Para Games held in Incheon, Korea last year.
In Bangkok, Thailand, where 16 countries participated, Dino won gold medal in the 100-meter dash, silver in the 400-meter dash, and bronze in the 200-meter dash.
