The Cebu Provincial Government has started distributing five kilos of rice and canned goods as relief assistance to Local Government Units (LGUs) who residents were affected by the recent earthquake in Cebu last October 15.
Cebu Provincial Social Welfare Department Office (PSWDO) Chief Evelyn Senajon said, that the schedule of distribution of commodities starts today. They will distribute relief goods in Mandaue City and in the Municipalities of San Fernando and Consolacion.
Meanwhile, Governor Hilario P. Davide III and some provincial government employees group were set off this morning to Boljoon, Dalaguete and Argao today to do an ocular inspection of the damages and to distribute relief goods as well. Provincial Engineering OIC Hector Jamora assisted the governor in the inspections.
Donations came from Cebu Provincial Government’s partner agencies such as Smart, San Miguel Foundation and Cherry Mobile CSR. Some maritime institution volunteers also assisted in repacking the relief goods.

Fifteen stampede victims from Pinamungajan who were sent to Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (VSMMC) for treatment last Tuesday, were already discharged from the hospital as of yesterday. PSWDO facilitated their medical bills, their ride going home and gave them 5 kilos rice and canned goods. Last night, additional eleven earthquake victims from Pinamungan arrived at VSMMC with the recommendation of the district hospital.
About 24 others were injured, when panic had resulted to stampede when the earthquake struck, while they were at the sports complex receiving cash incentives of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (PPP) distributed by personnel of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
