Province continues relief operations, to distribute generator sets for water systems

IMG_4985After listening to the updates of the departments which are in the forefront of the relief operations in the department heads meeting in the morning of Monday, Nov. 11,, Prov’l. Administrator Mark Tolentino called another meeting in the afternoon for the updates on the agreed action plan.

Earlier in the day, Gov. Hilario Davide III together with Legal Officer Orvi Ortega, Information Officer Ethel Natera and two foreign media correspondents have conducted aerial assessment of the towns in the Camotes island group. The team will drop by Bantayan to observe relief operations before coming back to the Capitol.

The department heads have decided to distribute tarpaulins to the affected areas in northern Cebu to provide temporary shelter to shield the residents from the rain that the new tropical storm Zoraida will bring.

Generator sets will also be provided to the affected local government units to provide power to run the water systems of the locality. At least one set will be given to one LGU.

Department heads had been assigned to the affected LGUs to serve as coordinators in the relief goods distribution and in the further gathering of data related to the aftermath of super typhoon Yolanda.

Meanwhile, private establishment and civil society groups have coordinated with the provincial government in the relief operations. Volunteers have helped the Capitol personnel in the repacking of relief goods which were purchased by the province itself and those from generous donors. Roger Serna
