In its effort to showcase and exhibit Cebuano products and delicacies, the Provincial Government of Cebu launched the 2013 Agri Trade Fair on 01 August 2013. Gov. Hilario Davide III graced the opening of this event that was one of the highlights of the 444th Founding Anniversary of the Province of Cebu. Provincial mayors, vice-mayors and members of the Provincial Board also attended the event.

A total of seventy-five concessionaires, coming from the public and private sectors, participated in this exhibit. This annual affair provides for a venue for local government units and private sector entrepreneurs, especially those from the far-flung areas of the province, to offer their local products directly to the consuming public.

Mr. Aiko Lariosa, a participant from Talisay City, sold Talisay City’s famous lechon and mangoes. To attract customers, Mr. Lariosa said that his Lechon was cheaper as compared to the regular market price, making his lechon more affordable.

Participants adorned their kiosks with exquisite decorations that best staged their products. To recognize their efforts, the Provincial Government awarded the best booth to the deserving participants. The municipality of Balamban won the third place for the Best Booth, while Ms. Maria Sol Rondez of Dalaguete bagged the second place. Mr. Celso Aliganga of Naga City maintained his position in the first place which he has held for four consecutive years. The winners of the 2013 Agri Trade Fair were awarded during the “Gabii sa Sugbo”. (Hedda C. Paquibot, USJ-R Masscomm Intern)
