The Provincial Environment and Natural Resources’ (PENRO) non-stop campaign against illegal haulers has resulted to the apprehension of more violators.
The latest offenders are four cargo truck drivers identified as Walter Bolo, Alan Martel, Jilson Sevillano and Ariel Aballe of Mandaue, Danao, Bantayan, Cebu and, a native of Palompon, Leyte. They were apprehended for violating Provincial Ordinance No. 200-10, otherwise known as the “Revenue Code of Cebu”.
On March 22, the PENRO Capitol monitoring team chanced upon the violators at Tayud, Consolacion. Their vehicles were loaded with fine sand, limestone, sand and gravel and other waste materials.
When the PENRO personnel asked for documents to support the hauling’s legality, the drivers failed to show any. This resulted to their apprehension.
Martel, Sevillano and Aballe had no delivery receipt and provincial treasurer’s 2014 accreditation sticker. Meanwhile, Bolo had an expired delivery receipt. Pending resolution of their cases, their vehicles were held and temporarily impounded near the Tayud barangay hall,.
PENRO is mandated to safeguard the Province’ natural resources and to protect its environment. Ramon Gallardo
