The Cebu provincial board approved a resolution authorizing Governor Hilario Davide III to donate 5,000 sqm of land to the Cebu Provincial Police Office (CPPO).
PB Member Grecilda “Gigi” Sanchez, committee chair on provincial and municipal properties sponsored the resolution to formalize the transfer of ownership to CPPO.
Senior Supt. Noel Gillamac, CPPO director made a request to Cebu province for the permanent occupancy in order for them to perform efficiently.
The resolution was approved during the regular session last Monday.
Sanchez said former governor and now Rep. Gwendolyn Garcia only allowed CPPO to use the land where the office building now stands under a usufruct arrangement .
The CPPO building was inaugurated in August 2009 in barangay Sudlon, Lahug, Cebu City.
“CPPO officials cannot introduce improvements to the property because they were only occupants. They cannot ask for funds from the PNP national headquarters as well because specific documents are needed.” Sanchez said.
Once the deed of donation will be approved and signed by the governor, CPPO can start improvements on the property.
“Cebu province finds the request meritorious and for the best interest of the parties,” Sanchez further said.
PB Member Joven Mondigo Jr. earlier asked Sanchez to add a condition in the deed of donation that if CPPO will no longer use the lot for the purpose intended, the ownership of said properties will be reverted back to Cebu province. Sanchez agreed with the addendum.
Furthermore, the donation is still subject to the Commission on Audit (COA) rules and regulations. (Heart Rizarri)
