Around 19,600 international job openings were offered and 29 licensing agencies participated in Capitol-initiated overseas job fair last March 20 at Cebu Provincial Capitol Social Hall.
Almost 3,200 applicants participated in the event and some of them came from the provinces of Visayas and Mindanao.
More than 20 countries were identified as job destinations, including United Kingdom, New Zealand, Singapore, Romania, Congo, Taiwan, Brunei, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Oman.
Aries Liu, 33, a Commerce graduate from Bacolod City was grateful for the overseas job fair.
“Kini nga inyong job fair makatabang gyud sa mga unemployed sama nakon nga gikan pa sa Bacolod (This job fair can really help unemployed persons like me who still came from Bacolod),” said Liu.
Liu was overwhelmed how the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) Cebu Province handled the job fair, saying it was “very systematic and organized”.
Liu already applied for jobs in five agencies and waiting for the call and final interview of the employer.
Meanwhile, applicants Vannesa Bucol, 24, and Chatty Mae Arboladura, 27, from Dipolog City, Zamboanga Del Norte were also hoping to work abroad.
Bucol who is undergraduate of Bachelor of Science in Social Work decided to apply in the overseas job fair to help his father who suffered cataract for a year already. She applied for a job as a factory worker in Taiwan and Bahrain.
The Public Employment Service Office-Cebu Province continues to provide job opportunities and employment services to the people in the province.
