Earlier this morning, Cebu Provincial Governor Hilario P. Davide III and Vice-Governor Agnes A. Magpale welcomed the arrival of Myanmar President Thein Sein at the Mactan Cebu International Airport Authority (MCIAA) with the rest of the ministers of Myanmar Government. There were 61 delegates including their president.
Among those who met the Myanmar president were, Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Paz Radaza, Rep. Aileen Radaza, MCIAA General Manager Nigel Paul Villarete, Major Gen. Romeo Poquiz of 2nd Air Division, Philippine Air Force and Police Regional Office-7 Director Danilo Constantino.
Shortly after the arrival, President Sein and Governor Davide proceeded to Bantayan Island, one of the badly-hit areas in northern Cebu affected by the supertyphoon Yolanda.
The Special charter flight of President Sein carried 2-tons of relief goods (including blankets) medicines and medical equipment worth 14 million Kyats or P624,000.00 to be given to typhoon Yolanda victims in northern Cebu.
The donated items were turned over by the Myanmar Government to Cebu Provincial Government represented by Vice-Governor Agnes Magpale in behalf of the governor.
Medical equipment consists of ten stethoscopes, five sphygmomanometer, one set of minor surgical set, two ECG machines and two glucometer with strips. Aside from the medical equipment, about 143 assorted kinds of medicine were also given, that include dressing tablets, antibiotics, injectables, powder and liquids.
Myanmar’s special medical team will also arrive in Bogo City to aid typhoon Yolanda victims. Heart Rizzari
