Vice Governor Agnes Magpale assured constituents of Cebu Province that the provincial government will hold more medical missions in the days to come.
Magpale thanked the Provincial Board for showing their support by setting aside budget for the medical and dental missions and Halad activities such as Halad sa Kabataan and Halad Alang Kang Lolo ug Lola.
Last Friday, Sept. 30, residents of Barangays La Paz, Malingin and Dakit in Bogo City availed of free medical and dental services of provincial health doctors, dentists, laboratory technicians, pharmacists and hair trimmers.
With three barangays to serve, the medical mission prepared to attend to at least 1000 beneficiaries.
Almost 80 adult patients had their blood pressures and bloods sugar levels checked.
About 46 senior citizens also complained of similar discomfort and arthritis.
More than 100 mothers brought their babies for check up of common ailments like colds and flu.
Others came for advice on nutrition while about 25 patients went for dental services.
Thirty two children, senior citizens and adolescents enjoyed free haircuts.
While waiting for each of their turns, staff of the Vice Governor’s Office, barangay health workers and barangay nutrition scholars served delicious hot rice porridge. No one went home with an empty stomach.
Those who availed of the medical services also went home with a handful of medicines and vitamins.
Present during the medical mission were Bogo City Vice Mayor Ma. Cielo Martinez, Provincial Board Member Sun Shimura and La Paz Barangay Capt. Merlo Ancajas.
Both Martinez and Ancajas were grateful to Governor Hilario P. Davide III and Vice Governor Agnes Magpale for the medical missions that save their constituents from making the long trip to provincial or district hospitals, and sometimes, even to hospitals in Cebu City in case of serious illness.
